Brian "allegedly" praising it/not knowing Dennis had recorded a solo album.[edit]

Unconfirmed quote from Dennis Wilson, from 1977 & apparently reprinted in Back to the Beach: A Brian Wilson and the "Beach Boys" Reader by Kingsley Abbott :

"When my record was finished, Brian was the first to hear it. In the middle of some tracks he'd say, 'I can't stand this' and walk out of the room. Sometimes he'd laugh. Sometimes he'd cry. I guess he was thinking that he'd seen me grow up as a musician."

I'm curious about this myself, especially since I just read the chat transcript of Brian and Don Was on Prodigy from back in 1995:

During which he not only states himself that he would like to see Pacific Ocean Blue reissued on CD, but when asked about what his favorite song by Dennis is, he directly quotes one of the lines from "You and I".
Granted, that doesn't necessarily prove that he heard the album per se, but it does show that he was at least familiar with one of the songs.

‘Extremely rare’ 1991 CD[edit]

The validity of the statement regarding the $200 selling price of the original 1991 CD is dubious. It can be bought on Discogs at the moment for around £5-20. Is this old information that needs to be updated to reflect the current status of the CD’s collectibility? TheSturgenator (talk) 14:44, 4 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious claim about "outselling the Beach Boys' contemporary efforts"[edit]

This statement is properly sourced from an interview with the author of a book on Dennis Wilson. However, it is a dubious claim given the fact that Pacific stalled at #96 and went out of print within a year, while The Beach Boys Love You, released five months earlier, went to #53 in America and #28 in the UK. 15 Big Ones, released the year before, went gold at #8 and spawned a #5 and #29 hit. It's true that the next two albums peaked at #151 and #100, but even so, Pacific could not possibly have sold enough copies to be "noted" for outselling these other albums as a group. Furthermore, the source interview shows the author to be anything but neutral, basically blaming the band for all of Dennis's problems. My vote would be to remove this comment completely. If not, I recommend moving it out of the introductory paragraph and attributing it in the text so it's clear it's one person's opinion. Historydude58 (talk) 19:32, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
