Is the "gnome-packagekit is obsoleted" image caption erroneous?[edit]

Pacman?![edit]

Pacman is not the backend for packages in Arch Linux. All bindings for PackageKit are linked to the Arch Linux Package Manager (alpm), of which Pacman is just a frontend.

Since version 3.0.0, pacman has been the front-end to libalpm(3), the “Arch Linux Package Management” library. This library allows alternative front-ends to be written (for instance, a GUI front-end).
