Split or rename

I think this should be split into packagingarticle and labeling article. The first redirect here, the other right now is about a social concept. The other option is to rename this to packaging. Note that the current article has no interwikis, while https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q207822 (product packaging, redirects here) has almost 50 but no English. A SPLIT would be inappropriate: there is already an article about labeling but that is about social labeling. The labeling in this article is about physical labels or the labeling content on a package. A RENAME to "Packaging" might be OK as long as we keep the physical labeling content in the article. There are many package labeling regulations around the world. You have not identified the problem with the present name. Pkgx (talk) 16:22, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

@Pkgx Wikipedia article names should be about a single topic, anything that is "and" is generally a candidate for splitting. Plus the current name makes people confused about interwikis, the fact that the name made someone (@Swpb) revert my attempt to fix it on wikidata is a clear indicationof a problem with the name. As I have already indicated, I would support the name of "Packaging".Pkgx (talk) 12:01, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
@Pkgx Fair, but should we have a separate article on labelling in the context of packaging (labelling (packaging) or such)? Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:35, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
Not a separate article on package labeling. The content of this article should remain as is, with minor updates. Just change the title of the article. Pkgx (talk) 13:32, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
@Pkgx Fair, see below for RM. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 01:12, 13 January 2024 (UTC)

Packaging and labelingPackaging – Per discussion above; TL;DR to standardize this with other wikis (see https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q207822) and because "X and Y" in article naming is generally a bad idea (I am sure there is a relevant MoS guideline to link to but I cannot find it - TIA if you know it and do so) Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 01:11, 13 January 2024 (UTC)

  • Support move to "Packaging". Pkgx (talk) 21:06, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
  • Support given that all labels described in the text seem to be on packaging. Belbury (talk) 11:02, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
  • Since Labelling exists as a separate article in a separate field, we need to be careful, but this should be moved/split.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 00:17, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
