For future reference - HQ in Ceres, California;national convention meets ever two years; in the interim it has elected officers and a board of trustees; 40 local chapters, seven divisions; open to individuals who have a least one parent, grandparent or spouse hailing from Crete; June 1978 mem 3,300 which included female and junior chapters; no ritual; f. Oct. 1, 1916 in Chicago as Cretan Brotherhood of Chicago; the national org was created at a convention in 1929, female groups organized next year; and later on youth chapters; "enthusiastic about assisting the Greek Orthodox Church; sponsors scholarships, Cretan philanthropic institutions, and patriotism to members respective countries (it has members in US and Canada).
