Proposal to change names[edit]

Currently the file name: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parsons_Paris points to this article. The editors for the article Parsons Paris (2013) would like to change this. Since their school is currently called Parsons Paris and the Paris College of Art no longer has any connection to the word except for historical reasons it seems more reasonable for the file name "Parsons Paris" to point to them rather than here. Also a redirect could be made (perhaps "Parsons Paris 1986") to document the old name and have that point to this page. Does anyone object to this? I would suggest Parsons Paris is redirected to Parsons The New School for Design#Parsons Paris and Parsons Paris (1986) is a redirect to Paris College of Art. This will save a great deal of confusion - for example, the list of alumni on this article's page graduated from Parsons Paris when the name was licensed to Paris College of Art. There has been more than one Parsons Paris. Sionk (talk) 12:03, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Makes sense to me, I agree. MadScientistX11 (talk) 12:17, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
As you can see, I've created the Parsons Paris (1986) redirect. Sionk (talk) 16:21, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Great! So it seems we have a consensus unless anyone objects here. My suggestion would be to give it a day or two to make sure and then change the name "Parsons Paris" as described above. I've never gotten into changing file names so if you agree and can do it great but I'm willing to figure it out if needed, I think its fairly simple, as a developer I just get overly cautious about changing file names, I have memories of changing one name in a file path bringing whole systems to their knees, although I realize Wikipedia is a lot more fault tolerant than C code :) MadScientistX11 (talk) 18:18, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
