This is a great article, but I think the title should be changed.

The article is about the Parkway (sometimes referred to as the "Confederation Parkway" on older maps). The parkway consists of three roads which were constructed at different times: Macdonald Drive, Prince Philip Drive, and Columbus Drive. (Originally Macdonald and Prince Philip weren't even lined up -- they joined Portugal Cove Road at two separate intersections. Columbus was built a decade after Prince Philip, and was referred to as the Crosstown Arterial before being named in honour of the Knights of Columbus.) Yes, these three roads do form a single expressway, but this expressway is known as the Parkway, not as Prince Philip Drive. For example, if you're on Columbus Drive by the Village, you're definitely not on Prince Philip Drive, though you are on the Parkway.

This article is really about the Parkway, not just Prince Philip Drive (which is just one component of the Parkway). So I would suggest that the title should be changed to reflect this. WillNL (talk) 14:59, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is this really correct? I would have thought that the Parkway was so called because it runs through Pippy Park and has a park-like character, is a "parkway". Wasn't it originally called The Parkway, and this later changed to Prince Philip Drive? A Google search shows that Prince Philip Drive is frequently also called the Prince Philip Parkway. There is also reference to a Confederation Parkway, maybe that was the original name in the early 1960s?. Macdonald Drive was surely not part of the original concept, and was just a gravel road when the Parkway was first opened. Columbus Drive may have been conceived as a parkway, or extension to the existing parkway, but wasn't part of the original Parkway concept, and is called a "drive". There must also surely be a relationship between the Parkway and the building of the Confederation Building and University in the early 1960s. Rwood128 (talk) 13:04, 24 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
