Coordinates error[edit]

Hi there! I tried adding the coordinates; however, it is appearing in Africa. The address on Google Maps in Parq Vancouver on Google Maps. Thanks!

Hi, where did you find those coordinates? I've corrected them; you can get coordinates from Google Maps URL or using http://www.gps-coordinates.netbenzband (talk) 10:31, 24 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for fixing it Benzband! I copied this link from Google Maps into GeoLocator. Daylen (talk) 19:31, 24 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Daylen: After using that tool on a few locations, it looks like it uses the numbers I've highlighted in red below (no idea why):
https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Parq+Vancouver+Resort+%26+Casino/@49.2752177,-123.1152821,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x5486717d479c720b:0xf946430de5182998!8m2!3d49.2752142!4d-123.1130935
To work around this, omitting the "/data=..." part seems to return the right coordinates, and so does pasting just the latitude, longitude from the URL as Google Maps URLs go ".../@latitude,longitude,zoom/..." (in degrees). — benzband (talk) 06:50, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Requested edit[edit]

Hi there, at the request of the PR agency representing Parq Vancouver, I have been asked by email for the article to be updated to the draft shown below. I have no affiliation with Parq Vancouver; however, I would still prefer if someone else looked over the edit request, as I created the article. From a quick glance, the draft looks highly promotional and will need lots of work. The draft also is missing references, wikiliking, and references. I will add them when I get a change Thanks! Daylen (talk) 05:12, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Old Draft

Casino[edit]

Parq Vancouver’s 72,000 square foot casino offers two levels of state-of-the-art gaming and exceptional customer service against the backdrop of one the most spectacular cities in the world. Bathed in natural light, with a second-floor entrance connecting directly to the west gate (Gate G) of neighboring BC Place, the casino offers an enjoyable gaming environment and lavish amenities for players of all levels of experience. The second floor casino features 600 slot machines (including high limit slots), 17 table games, the Centre Bar, and MRKT East and BC Kitchen restaurants, all conceived by award-winning restaurateurs Elizabeth Blau and Kim Canteenwalla of Blau + Associates. The third floor high limit gaming area features Jade West and Jade East with exclusive VIP salons offering private gaming with in-salon or lounge dining, dedicated casino cage, restrooms, and full service VIP hosts. Parq Vancouver’s third floor is also home to Cantonese-focused 1886 restaurant and Lotus Whiskey and Tea Lounge from Blau + Associates.

The Parq[edit]

The heart of Parq Vancouver is the 30,000-square foot, sixth-floor outdoor park, named The Parq, conceived by Rob Wells of SixteenFifty Creative Intelligence and designed by renowned landscape artist Christopher Phillips of PFS Studio. Creating a one-of-a-kind, communal experience for guests and locals, this elevated green space rises to greet Vancouver’s natural skyline, offering unparalleled views of the city. The inclusion of over 200 native pines and 15,000 local floras offsets Parq’s carbon footprint – literally breathing life back into downtown – and reconnects people to their natural surroundings. A water feature captures the essence of Vancouver’s coastline of islands and rocky shores, and forest gardens recall the forests and meadows found in the local mountains. Walking paths unite intimate alcoves that nestle into the community driven space, while adjacent signature restaurant The Victor and D/6 cocktail lounge welcome people to connect with one another—turning the park into an epicenter where Vancouver comes to play.

Food and Beverage[edit]

The food and beverage portfolio, conceived by James Beard Award-nominated restaurateurs Elizabeth Blau and Canadian Chef Kim Canteenwalla of Blau + Associates, was thoughtfully crafted after the duo spent the last five years meeting with local farmers and growers, motivated by a desire to learn what the landscape of Western Canada has to offer. The menus’ notable Asian influences are drawn from the couple’s extensive travels overseas, including the time Canteenwalla spent living and working in Southeast Asia, and will incorporate Asian flavours with Pacific Northwest ingredients.

Art[edit]

Slow is a freestanding public art sculpture, created by Chinese artist Zhang Huan, and located on the central island of the roundabout at the main entrance of Parq Vancouver. A stainless steel, reflective surface sculpture, Slow depicts two panda bears – a baby bear strolling with its mother. Huan’s innovative work is meant to eulogize eternal maternity and family while expressing expectations of a future, and expresses the artist’s understanding of human nature and his thoughts on love and eternity.

Hey Daylen! Good call on not adding this directly to the article. This draft is highly promotional, and has barely been modified from the developer's press release boilerplate. There are just tons of red flags scattered all over this submission: overly-hyped promotional language everywhere, gratuitous adjectives, and quite possibly close paraphrases from the company's PR kit. It is very diligent of you to offer adding citation to this submission, but I think it's a better idea if you continue writing this article from scratch, as you have been doing. It's going to be less work writing from your own ideas than trying to source everything the developer wants to be said. If the PR agency doesn't even bother attempting to craft a draft along Wikipedia standards, that's their fault if they receive a speedy rejection. Altamel (talk) 03:40, 7 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Altamel: The company has sent me another draft for approval. It is much better; however, still needs improvement. I have would make sure to remove the promotional terms before merging it into the article, in addition to references and wikilinking. For now, I have made a few changes, shown using underlining. Draft 2

Parq Vancouver is a luxury and lifestyle hotel and casino resort located in downtown the False Creek neighborhood of Vancouver, British Columbia, adjacent to BC Place. Operated and owned by Paragon Gaming, along with Dundee Corporation and PBC Group, Parq Vancouver opened to the public on September 29, 2017.

The resort is home to the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver and The Douglas, an Autograph Collection Hotel, both of which are exclusive to western Canada. The former contains 281 rooms and 48 luxury suites, as well as the Spa by JW on the 17th floor. The latter features 178 rooms and 10 suites.

Parq Vancouver also contains a 72,000-square-foot, two-level casino with 600 slot machines and 75 gaming tables – all of which had been relocated from Paragon Gaming’s Edgewater Casino located at the Plaza of Nations. The Edgewater Casino closure coincided with the opening of Parq Vancouver.

Created by Rob Wells of SixteenFifty Creative Intelligence and designed by Christopher Phillips of PFS Studio, The Parq features more than 200 native pine trees, and 15,000 local floras.
