Opinion in this article[edit]

The phrase "Unlike the majority of reporters who stay in hotels in Baghdad" is an unfair assessment. It is not an unfair assessment. Pat Dollard lived ate and went everywhere the Marines did. You can tell in his videos by the way the Marines talk to him. The Marines are very Insular so getting their respect is a lot of work. People have their opinions about Pat Dollard, but unfair. He was almost killed in Iraq and the guy sitting next to him in the vehicle was killed. Typical, people come home from a war and everybody acts like it is no big deal. Well, it is a horrible deal. Pat Dollard is my friend and I find much to admire about him. As a career Soldier I would go into combat with him at anu time. Those who have never been to war just cannot relate. Pat works very hard to keep his act togetherCite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). Encyclopedius?[edit]

deleted some self promotion.

"Deleted some self promotion" ? Apparently not enough - the entire entry is still here. Wow. What a whitewash someone did! Dannyinla 02:53, 25 February 2007 (UTC)dannyinla[reply]

The term "in a less than heroic light" is strictly opinion and is posted by a user who has discussed his anti-dollard, anti-republican political bias on other websites. this is an intentional defamation by a political partisan. but wikipedia has always been anti-conservative, hasn't it. no wonder edits are locked. entirely political censorship in the service of a smear campaign.

What are you defining as self-promotion? How do you know it was written by Dollard? Your assesment is ridiculous. As for the statement "uunlike the majority of reporters who stay in hotels in Baghdad, it is 100% factually correct. The majority of reporters stay in hotels in Baghdad. Clearly your issue is with Dollard's politics, not facts. Or perhaps you have "other issues". Regardless, you are not allowed to randomly censor facts.

cleaned it up some more![edit]

Cleaned it up.

definition of patrolling[edit]

found at the link below. did this gentleman "patrol" or ride along and film patrols? http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/patrol —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.59.75.34 (talk) 21:02, 27 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

More NPOV[edit]

Removed the sentence "He has been widely attacked by the left for the pro-war stance displayed in early clips of his documentary series 'Young Americans.'" after doing a Google search and finding nothing critical in the first 30 results; created a Criticism section that mentions the VF article. Kayobee 22:11, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is pure bullshit. He is attacked and criticized in all the first results including Washington Post, the new york times, etc. the above is a pure lie.

Please give examples. I just ran the google search again -- the worst line I found was a quote by a former client, Billy Bob Thornton: "Pat Dollard is the only person I know in Hollywood who's crazier than me" -- which from the contxt sounds more admiring/impressed than critical. There's not even a result from the NYT until the 3rd page, and that's just a filmography and links to articles from previous years. Kayobee 05:22, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy over "Controversy"[edit]

Someone (or several someones) has repeatedly deleted the Controversy (nee Criticism) section of this article. I believe the section should be included, based on the fact that the controversy turns up immediately in a Google search of the name.

Moreover, the justifications used for these deletions are quite weak, I believe: "user is known dollard critic" (I'd never heard of Dollard till the day I edited the article), "misstates legality of option deal" (???), "headline controversy intentional defamation" (controversy was substituted for criticism because it seemed more neutral).

Do other editors agree that the section should be included, or disagree? Kayobee 22:11, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This section needed work to remove bias and secondary / tertiary character attacks. I hadn't heard of Pat Dollard two hours ago, so I had to read all the bits cited and do some Googling. I hope all can agree it's fair, or at least balanced, and get the neutrality tag removed.JakartaDean (talk) 10:13, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Doc being produced by the Scotts?[edit]

I can't find a single reference to Dollard's documentary now being produced by Tony and Ridley Scott. Unless someone knows where this information comes from, it should probably be removed. Tony Scott's interest in producing a fictionalized account of Dollard's life is verifiable.--Cank 18:45, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Site crashes after Blog article gets Digged[edit]

The site's down now because of a posting about New Hampshire, it's gained too much popularity from Digg: http://digg.com/world_news/New_Hampshire_Fires_First_Shot_Of_Civil_War_2?OTC-ig Skydive23 (talk) 21:39, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone still disputing?[edit]

This piece is a mess now, particularly the "controversy" segment, which reads like a fan's defense of Dollard by way of a fan's attack on perceived critics, ignoring fact, logic, and elementary sentence construction in his quest. (Wright's a "pornographer" because he reviewed porn? What documentary by David Carr-Brown? What "cult for Jann Wenner"? For crying out loud, 4 of the first 5 hits for your "reference" link to a google search of Waxman + "bad reporting" present her reporting in a positive light.)

Now that Dollard's not in the news any longer, does anyone have objections to a thorough clean-up of this sad page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kayobee (talkcontribs) 21:46, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
