No Mention of Silver?[edit]

There appears to be no mention of McCarran's unflagging support for silver... which just incidently was a major Nevada output. DEddy (talk) 02:07, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, he started political life as a Silver Democrat - amazing, not that long ago, really. 2A00:23C3:E284:900:954:67F3:61B7:A910 (talk) 15:06, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Anti-Semitism[edit]

Where did that charge come from? Did the politicians making it explain at all? 2A00:23C3:E284:900:954:67F3:61B7:A910 (talk) 15:07, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is a good question. The article certainly does nothing to explain it. The article is good at explaining his opposition to FDR, and his opposition to communsim, but it does nothing to explain how these two oppositions make the jump to racism, anti-semitism, and xenophobia. I'd love to see some rational explaination of this in the article.Sf46 (talk) 01:26, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, while there are multiple mentions of McCarran being considered a racist and an anti-semite by other people in the present day, bafflingly there are no actual examples of racist or anti-semitic views he may have held or actions he may have taken that demonstrate why others consider him to be worthy of these labels. Surely there must be concrete examples of him making racist or anti-semitic statements that can be included in the article to explain why people consider him to be such? In its present state the article says less about what McCarran himself believed and more about what other people believe about him, which is not particularly encyclopaedic. 2A00:23C5:6D1A:3401:1D22:28BE:D3AB:72C (talk) 03:37, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
