Dybala's number[edit]

Looks like Dybala won't take #10 and is definitive. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 18:09, 12 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Added Serie A official numbers list. Troubleo.WS 🍁 Talk 18:19, 12 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The pronunciation is wrong[edit]

Paulo is a Spanish name, so [ˈpaulo] is right. But Dybala(Dybała) is a Polish surname. Dybala himself and Spanish native speakers pronounce it [diˈbala], which is neither Spanish pronunciation([ðiˈβala]) nor Polish pronunciation([dɨˈbawa]). So I don't know if it is pronounced [ˈpaulo diˈbala] or IPA: [ˈpaulo diˈbala] or pronounced [ˈpaulo diˈbala]. And I can't edit it so @Mr KEBAB:. Here is the reference: https://forvo.com/word/paulo_dybala/amp. Thanks for helping edit it. LoveVanPersie (talk) 05:06, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@LoveVanPersie: Not done: First, the Forvo recording says [ˈpaulo diˈβala], not [ˈpaulo diˈbala]. It can not serve as a reference for Spanish native speakers, let alone Dybala himself, as it is just one person speaking in a rather formal situation (which does matter). What you're saying is not only extremely unlikely but simply not true. To Spanish native speakers, [d] and [ð] as well as [b] and [β] belong to the same phonemes /d/ and /b/. There's no chance that a native speaker would consciously use one or the other in disagreement with the rules of Spanish lenition (which vary somewhat from dialect to dialect), unless we count slips of the tongue (which are unintended).
I suggest that you take a break from editing pronunciations and read more literature on various accents of Spanish. The information on Standard European Spanish that you can find here on Wikipedia serves as a limited guide to all of Spanish phonetics and phonology and is just a bit more than an invitation to explore other varieties yourself. Also, please always remember to WP:SIGN yourself before you send your message. Mr KEBAB (talk) 10:27, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Is it established that the player himself uses 'Dybala', not 'Dybała'? Mjefm (talk) 20:03, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please add a note after the pronunciation[edit]

Done but, again, remember to WP:SIGN yourself before you post your message. You shouldn't expect bots or other users to do that for you every time. Mr KEBAB (talk) 15:17, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Notes

  1. ^ In isolation, Dybala is pronounced [diˈβala].

Not the first non European to reach 100 goals for Juventus[edit]

The argentines Omar Sivori and David Trezeguet were the first non European to reach 100 goals for Juventus, in 1961 and 2007 respectively 136.49.191.180 (talk) 22:28, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

They were Italian and French nationals, though. Nehme1499 22:46, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Timespan[edit]

Transcluded from User talk:Nehme1499

Recently on Paulo Dybala's article you have reverted my edit that put the timespan of his career at 2015-2022, despite the fact that he confirmed that he's leaving the club. And if you check the view history, you can see that the user Dr Salvus was basically being a textbook warmonger. You'd do yourself a pleasure by self-reverting your edit. Fijipedia (talk) 22:24, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Fijipedia he can still renew (I hope so, knowing it won't happen). And that edit you'd pointed out at Paul Pogba (one I don't want to be at Juve) is wrong. And Dybala's contract is ending on 30 June. Wait for Inter to officialise him. Dr Salvus 22:32, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Dr Salvus It's not just Pogba. Players such as Tchouameni and Nunez (leaving for Real Madrid and Liverpool respectively) have their current club start shown as 2020 and end as 2022. No need to break Wikipedia norms. Also, why are you even here and a completely different user's talk page. Is this your second account or something? If that's the case, I think this account's revert on Dybala's article breaks Wikipedia policy. If not, you shouldn't even be here. Fijipedia (talk) 22:52, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Dr Salvus On top of that, it is said in the body of the article that "Dybala played his final home match for Juventus on 16 May 2022 against Lazio, being substituted by Martin Palumbo in the 78th minute, for which he received a standing ovation." What's the point of reverting my edits if the body directly supports my claim? Fijipedia (talk) 22:56, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Fijipedia Nuñez and Tchouameni have arleady signed with their respective new teams, but Dybala hasn't yet. That's the rule and someone else would have reverted the edits. Then, you did ping me, so I knew your comment. The sentence about Dybala's last Juventus game may be notable for the standing ovation received, which no one can ever cancel. And no, we are not the same person at all.
To conclude, this talk page is no place to discuss about. Do something at Wt:footy instead. Dr Salvus 23:27, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Fijipedia: Dybala will leave Juventus (future tense): ergo, he hasn't yet left. Wait until 1 July to make changes. Nehme1499 23:50, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nehme, a thing which isn't related to this discussion. The next time you don't want to write "Dr Salvus", write "Doc" instead of "Dr". Dr Salvus 09:38, 19 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
He will leave Juve in 2022, so what's wrong with my edit? He confirmed that he won't renew. Fijipedia (talk) 11:41, 19 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Fijipedia This is no place to talk about. Dr Salvus 11:45, 19 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think you decide that, I think Wikipedia policy does. User talk pages are all about discussing a user's edits. Fijipedia (talk) 11:48, 19 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Fijipedia you may get more responses there instead of here. Dr Salvus 11:51, 19 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Fijipedia: So if a player will leave in 2023, would you put 2023 in the infobox? Closing the year span implies that he currently isn't a player for that club. Not that he won't be in the future. Nehme1499 12:16, 19 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If a player confirmed that he would be leaving. It doesn't really imply anything. Fijipedia (talk) 13:54, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Fijipedia: Again, future. Not present. Wait until 1 July. Nehme1499 13:57, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Pogba, Origi, and Dani Alves confirmed that they would be leaving, and their articles state 2016-2022, 2014-2022, and 2021-2022 respectively. So according to wikipedia norms, you don't really have an argument. Fijipedia (talk) 14:41, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Fijipedia You are being tedious: those edits are wrong! Dr Salvus 15:55, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wrong if not officialized yet, like in Dybala's case. Dr Salvus 15:57, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Then, if you want a proper discussion: DO THAT AT WT:FOOTY. Dr Salvus 16:00, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So you're saying that Wikipedia norms are wrong? Nope. Your argument is just wrong. I'll take this argument to WT:FOOTY, this conversation won't get anywhere. Fijipedia (talk) 16:09, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
