You reference a timeline page for your decision to mention that the island were named after two later characters in history. YOU COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG. It appears you did a quick search for a similar name and chose it from random. The entry you quote is from 1893, many decades after the naming of the Islands, Bay and Volcanoes. Your reference was about how the town of CIRCLE, AK was founded, not the naming of the islands.

Although, only a river is attributed to my Great Great Grandfather, I have not as yet been able to bring to light the history of the Russian American Company ASSISTANT CHIEF MANAGERS, also called LIEUTENANT GOVERNORS, and also VICE GOVERNORS, of which my Great-Great-Grandfather was one. His name was VASILII GERASIMOV PAVLOV and he was a Captain of ships in service to the company from 1839 until her was called to duty to serve under his good friend, Chief Manager or Governor, PRINCE DMITRI PETROVICH MAKSUTOV, as his second in command running the office in Kodiak, while the Prince lived and operated out of then capital, Novo-Arkhangel'sk (Sitka). At this time they were both in the service of the Russian Military, a strategic move by the Russian Government to make them official Governors under military rule, instead of civilian Managers of the company. Nearly every Assistant Manager became the next Manager after the standard 5 year rule. Unfortunately, they chose to sell the colony to the United States against the desires of the Prince Maksutov and Vasilii Pavloff. His brother in law was the famous CAPTAIN ILARION IVANOV ARKHIMANDRITOV who also sailed all the seas and shores of Alaska and surveyed them for the maps we use today.
