Needs a lot of work to achieve balance[edit]

I feel like the editor who wrote this article is trying to tell only the positives -- mentions "full page" NYT RoB article, but neglects to say they were critical of the book. I believe every source will have to be completely checked. valereee (talk) 16:13, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I think I've done what I can to achieve balance. This article hadn't been worked on in several years, so there may be new info that needs to be included valereee (talk) 17:44, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm the actual subject of this page! I hadn't looked at it in years, but I just did. I've just signed up so that I could add some information about a new project I'm working on that's about to be published (will correctly source this, of course).

I opened the page and saw that there is now a Conflict of Interest notice on it re it being written by a close associate. Ouch! This simply isn't true!

I appreciate your concern. As a trained journalist, objectivity means a lot to me, too

I've read the article over and it seems perfectly objective to me. I do hope you agree. Can this notification now please be removed?

Thanks so much for your consideration. User:Penelooop ( talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Peneloooop (talkcontribs) 00:34, 23 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Email from Biographer1/Possible COI[edit]

Hey, Biographer1! I got your email -- I'd prefer to keep all discussion here on the article's talk page, which makes it so much easier to make sure all editors can be in on the discussion and see what is being discussed. valereee (talk) 16:47, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Biographer1 So, first: sources for the biographical info is our most important task. Where is this info published by a reliable source? valereee (talk) 16:54, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, dear...and I see that your email is Penelope8. Are you by any chance the subject of this article? If so, you need to disclose this, and I'd HIGHLY recommend you stop editing this article completely. valereee (talk) 16:56, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Not clear if you got my last note. I worked with the author ten years or so ago. She is a friend and I wanted to help her after her bio came out. I like to think I described it and her impartially, but if I'm wrong on that I totally defer to you.
Yes, this is exactly the problem -- as someone with a conflict of interest, you maybe thought that the negative reviews were unfair or wrongheaded, so it didn't feel like partiality when you didn't include them. That's why we like to recommend anyone with a COI avoid editing an article. valereee (talk) 19:21, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I can add more sources re reviews etc. Just tell me how you'd like me to proceed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Biographer1 (talkcontribs) 17:47, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Biographer1! I got an email at 12:25 pm EST, is that the one you mean, or have you sent another? If so I haven't received the second, but it's better if we just discuss here. Thank you for disclosing your COI, definitely I'd highly recommend you don't edit this article any more. Please make sure to sign your comments on talk pages by hitting four tildes. And do you know where the biographical info is posted in a reliable source? valereee (talk) 17:56, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I see that you were referring to your response on your own talk page -- yes, it's always best to keep all discussion of an article on the article's talk page. valereee (talk) 18:13, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

new editor[edit]

New single-article editor has made many changes, I am suspecting continuing COI by this new editor valereee (talk) 20:28, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
