Not the same teams[edit]

No reason to believe that Penn State will drop ACHA hockey for NCAA. Many schools have both, and at Penn State's size, probably will as well. None of these players could compete at the NCAA level. Unless there is an announcement that they will drop their club team, both shouldn't be in the same article, and it shouldn't be described as a "move". Grsz11 04:29, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That is actually incorrect, The university is moving up the men's and women's ACHA DI programs, the university used the term "elevating." It's all sourced, and is in the refs. A lot of people get confused "team" vs. "program". The programs will be moved from ACHA DI/varsity club status to NCAA/varsity status and their ACHA kept just like some of the other current DI schools that moved from DII and DIII to DI and programs like Bemidji that moved from the NAIA way back. As far a team- most of the current team (coaches and players) will not make the NCAA roster. At the press conference and I believe it's in some of the articles, the university will continue the separate ACHA DII team "if interests continues." Here it is from the press conf. (one of many sources) [1]

It is our intention to elevate our club men's and women's hockey programs to Varsity status, beginning NCAA Division I competition for the 2012-13 hockey seasons.

2003-04 and 2004-05 season records[edit]

For the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons, here are the game results as shown at http://thankyouterry.blogspot.com/p/m-resultsseason-1909.html, http://php.scripts.psu.edu/clubs/up/psuicers/schedule.php?season=200304 and http://php.scripts.psu.edu/clubs/up/psuicers/schedule.php?season=200405

Note the season records and compare them to the coaching records stated for those years in the article.

1995-96 season record[edit]

For the 1995-96 season, here are the game results as shown at http://thankyouterry.blogspot.com/p/m-resultsseason-1909.html

Note the season record and compare it to the coaching record stated for that year in the article.

The 1995-96 coaching record is listed as 26-4-1, compared to the reported results shown below (29-4-1).

Why is there a discrepancy? What happened to the 3 wins that are not shown on the official season record?

Other discrepancies among the official season W-L-T records[edit]

Does anyone have information that could help to resolve the following?

1971-72: official record (13-6-0) includes 2 wins for which none of the game information is known

1976-77: official record (14-6-1) fails to include 1 of the 2 tie games (both ties have verifiable sources, including the Daily Collegian)

1977-78: one source lists an away win over Pitt on 12/5/1977 with a score of 10-1. This is not included or reflected anywhere in this article.

1979-80: official record (18-5-0) includes 1 loss for which none of the game information is known

1980-81: official record (24-6-0) includes an early-season exhibition win over NCAA DIII Cortland State. Is this consistent with how exhibition games are being counted in more recent seasons?

1983-84: official record (24-15-1) does not agree with the Daily Collegian reported final record of 23-15-1. Only 22 wins can be identified among source materials (e.g., see http://thankyouterry.blogspot.com/p/m-resultsseason-1909.html). There could have been an unreported win over winter break. Therefore, there are either 1 or 2 wins for which none of the game information is known.

1984-85: official record (20-11-2) includes 1 win for which none of the game information is known

1985-86: official record (17-16-3) seems to have miscounted one win as a loss and missed the 7-2 season-opening win over Niagara on 10/18/1985 (which was followed by an 8-6 win over Niagara the next day). One source (http://thankyouterry.blogspot.com/p/m-resultsseason-1909.html) shows all 37 game results with an overall record of 19-15-3.

1986-87: official record (24-9-1) is missing a 10th loss, as the archives of the Daily Collegian verify and confirm there were 10 losses

1990-91: one source lists an away win over Erie CC on 12/20/1990 with a score of 7-4. This is not included or reflected anywhere in this article.

1993-94: official record (24-8-1) does not include an early-season away exhibition loss (2-7) on 10/17/1993 to University of Massachusetts. Is this consistent with how exhibition games are being counted in more recent seasons?

1995-96: see above

2003-04: see above

2004-05: see above

2012-13: Penn State's W-L record of 6-2 in exhibition games that occurred throughout the season is not included among the 13-14 regular season W-L record. Is this consistent with how exhibition games are being counted? Is there a way to acknowledge these results in the coaching and season records? .
