Gain the support from vs. gain support from[edit]

Despite gaining the support from some athletes
Shouldn't it be "gaining support from" instead? I'm torn on this. Google search indicates both are roughly equally common, however.--Adûnâi (talk) 05:07, 29 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
