NPOV concerns[edit]

In sections: King County Council and Personal

"... As chair, von Reichbauer presided over an often contentious budget process in which he drew praise for guiding the Budget Committee for an unprecedented three years in a row, demonstrating yet another clear example of his ability to work across party lines and put the public’s needs ahead of politics. The Budget Committee unanimously passed the budget in 1994 and 1996, and overwhelmingly passed the budget in 1995 by a vote of 12 to 1. In 2000 and 2001 von Reichbauer was elected by his peers to serve as Chair of the King County Council. In recognition of his even-handed leadership as Chair of the Council, he was elected Vice-Chair by his colleagues when the Metropolitan King County Council changed party control in 2003 (becoming the first minority party member to serve in Council leadership). ...

"... he drew praise ..." From whom?

"... unprecedented ..." An assertion without reference or support.

"... yet another clear example of his ability to work across party lines ..." What does 'another' refer to? It is not a clear example; It is suggestive at best.

"... put the public’s needs ahead of politics." Is there an objective standard of this characterization? "... guiding the Budget Committee for ... three years in a row..." does not prove or even indicate that the individual thereby "... put the public’s needs ahead of politics."

"... overwhelmingly ..." More campaign-speak than objective.

"... In recognition of his even-handed leadership as Chair of the Council, he was elected Vice-Chair by his colleagues when the Metropolitan King County Council changed party control in 2003 (becoming the first minority party member to serve in Council leadership) ..."

Becoming the first minority party member to serve in Council leadership, is "suggestive of", but not "in recognition of" evenhanded leadership. Without additional factual support, I believe "in recognition of" is not sustainably objective.

"Pete von Reichbauer is known for his high level of community engagement." Unsupported assertion.

"Von Reichbauer has lived by the mantra, “listening is the beginning of understanding.”" Unsupported assertion. Reads like a campaign brochure.

"As Chair of the Metropolitan King County Council, von Reichbauer held an unprecedented amount of town hall meetings throughout the county." Unsupported assertion.

"If given the opportunity to meet with community members or legislate from afar, von Reichbauer has always preferred the former.[19]" Following link "[19]" brings one only to the statement, "No contests were found.".

"... legislate from afar ..." More appropriate to campaign literature than Wikipedia.

Much of this article reads like a press release.

I dispute the neutrality of its Point of View.

I agree this biography of a living person is overly laudatory and reads like a press release. According to Biographies of living persons these pages should retain a neutral point of view, include verifiable facts, and contain no original research (or in this case, opinion about the politician in question). I will attempt to correct the most egregious violations outlined by User:Patmontg. I welcome feedback and constructive criticism about this process. Please reach me at my talk page.

Place of Residence[edit]

An anonymous user has removed my mention of the current place of residence for County Council Representative Pete von Reichbauer. von Reichbauer's place of residence is in the public interest and has a place in this essay, which continues to be mysteriously edited to be overly complimentary. I am happy to accept suggestions on how best to cite this information, but the general point stands. The fact that the longest serving county council member resides most of the year in Arizona is worthy of addition. Mpschaff (talk) 18:45, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
