Edit wars[edit]

It seems there is a slow-motion edit war going on here, and I strongly suspect both editors involved of having a conflict of interest. I would ask that you both stop editing this page, particularly if you are going to add material that does not adhere to Wikipedia's well established policy of neutrality in articles. thanks Beeblbrox (talk) 20:18, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have tried to mediate this dispute by adding referenced text which notes the controversy neutrally. This text has been removed by one user so tht the page only shows positive comments about Lik on several occasions and has been edited in an inflammatory way by another user at other times. Awards[edit]

For three months, there has been a request for disinterested evidence for the following claimed awards:

  • 2004 AIPP Australian Institute of Professional Photography Awards Landscape - One Silver with distinction & Two Silver
  • 2004 AIPP Nikon Queensland Professional Photography Awards Landscape - Two Silver
  • 2003 APPA National Awards - Landscape Category
  • 2003 AIPP - Australian Institute of Professional Photography - Nikon Qld awards
  • 2003 Fuji ACMP Australian Photographer's Collection 9
  • 2002 AIPP - Australian Institute of Professional Photography - Nikon Qld awards
  • 2002 APPA - Australian Professional Photographers Awards
  • 2001 AIPP - Australian Institute of Professional Photography National Photography Awards
  • 2001 AIPP - Australian Institute of Professional Photography National Photography Awards
  • 2000 AIPP - Australian Institute of Professional Photography National Photography Awards
  • 2000 AIPP - Canon Queensland Professional Photography Awards
  • 1999 AIPP - Australian Institute of Professional Photography Awards
  • 1999 AIPP - Canon Queensland Professional Photography Awards
  • 1999 Fuji ACMP Australian Photographer's Collection 6

No evidence has been provided, so I've cut the lot. If anyone can provide reliable (which of course implies disinterested) evidence for any of these, feel free to readd that award to the article. -- Hoary (talk) 02:18, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Early work[edit]

We're told:

. . . selling them directly to companies that used them for postcards. After seeing some of the other work on the market and how his own was being used only for advertising, . . .

For postcards, or all for advertising? -- Hoary (talk) 23:58, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This has now been fixed. Thanks, ♫ SqueakBox talk contribs 16:10, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Style[edit]

Should be include some details on his style of working? What makes his photographs to intense, etc? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.119.52.186 (talk) 14:35, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you can cite reliable sources saying that his photographs are intense, then you're free to build something out of these. Ditto for his style of working. -- Hoary (talk) 15:18, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"This information is available on Peter Lik's website"[edit]

On this edit, in which Bagima adds a pile of awards, citing Lik's website: No, a claim for an award needs an independent authority. See here as an example of how award lists should be sourced. -- Hoary (talk) 00:41, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Early life[edit]

I believe Peter Lik grew up in the Melbourne suburb of Vermont and studied primary (elementary) school teaching before embarking on his photography career.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?Flanker235 (talk) 01:38, 12 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

IFF (i) the unnecessary capital-letter SHOUTING (e.g. "EPSON INTERNATIONAL") is removed, (ii) all of this is formatted properly, and (iii) each item is sourced explicitly and reliably, then it can be put into the article. -- Hoary (talk) 06:52, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dispute[edit]

There is a discussion on the truthiness of the latest sales of Lik's "Phantom" (and others) at Talk:List of most expensive photographs#Lik's Phantom. sroc 💬 16:52, 13 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Peter Lik’s Recipe for Success[edit]

As the NYT article "Peter Lik’s Recipe for Success: Sell Prints. Print Money" is unusually interesting, I've had it archived here at Webcite. -- Hoary (talk) 09:16, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've used this as a reference in an amendment just added regarding the $6.5m sale. Tjej (talk) 05:16, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Accusations of digital manipulation[edit]

In Feb-18 Lik was been accused of hypocrisy for the digital manipulation of an image called "Moonlight Dreams" on the grounds, among others, that the moon image was recycled and that Lik's sale team swear the images "real.". This seems worthy of inclusion but misrepresentation by sales staff is different from any claim by Lik himself. I think this should be added but someone more familiar with him may have some better information.Tjej (talk) 05:23, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
