Two Peter Marrens?[edit]

I've made a start on creating "Peter Marren (author)" - so called to distinguish this PM from another one, a military historian, born in 1940 something. Unfortunately, the various library/authority files (Worldcat, VIAF, and national libraries) are very mixed up so books written by one are frequently attributed to the other. Anything related to military history or battlefields is not likely to be connected to this Peter Marren (1950-). 45154james (talk) 18:41, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Correction: It seems from the Amazon biography on the book "1066: the Battles of York, Stamfordbridge Bridge & Hastings (Battleground Britain)" that there is, in fact, just the one Peter Marren: "Peter Marren is a writer, journalist and military historian. An active member of the Battlefields Trust, his book about Scottish warfare, Grampian Battlefields, was runner-up for the Saltire Prize in 1990, and he has written well-researched articles on medieval battles, including Lewes, Evesham, Harlaw and Tewkesbury. He is also the author of a dozen books on natural history, bibliography and rural life, including The New Naturalists (1995), Britain's Rare Flowers (1999) and Nature Conservation (2002). He writes regularly for The Independent, The Daily Telegraph, The Countryman, British Wildlife, BBC Wildlife and Plant Talk. Peter lives at Ramsbury, Marlborough, Wiltshire." 45154james (talk) 18:49, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

So a bit of information about his military background and the Saltire Prize could be added to the article. 45154james (talk) 18:51, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Have now done this, briefly. Needs expansion. 45154james (talk) 14:52, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Views on nature protection"[edit]

I've included this section because it seemed relevant and interesting, but maybe it's too long and has undue weight? Maybe the article would be more "encyclopedic" - a better, simple summary of Peter Marren's life/work - without it? Would be interested to hear other views on this - and we can, of course, edit it out if people think it's better that way. 45154james (talk) 17:30, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

have done this too. 45154james (talk) 17:37, 13 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Moving "Peter Marren (author)" to "Peter Marren"[edit]

As above, I deliberately titled this page for disambiguation reasons assuming there were two Peter Marrens. It now turns out there's only one so, according to WP:PTOPIC, I believe this page can now simply be moved to "Peter Marren". Since the name "Peter Marren" is fairly unique and there don't appear to be any other Peter Marrens, I assume that is not going to be controversial and I'm just going to move without initiating a discussion/consensus (per WP:MOVE). 45154james (talk) 08:58, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
