I am not too sure why Peter Shepherd (Surgeon Major) was changed to Peter Shepherd (British Army officer). Being Surgeon Major provides the information that he was an army officer but is more precise. I suppose the reasoning is that an army officer's rank changes as his career progresses. However in this case it is important to know that he was in the Medical Corps. And all the memorials and obituaries of him refer to him as Surgeon Major.
