Comments[edit]

Peterhead, along with Fraserburgh, is known for having a major heroin and cocaine problem. Perhaps per WP:NPOV this could be reflected in the article?--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 21:30, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's sad to hear. Do you have any references to share? - Dudesleeper · Talk 19:01, 4 December 2007 (/UTC)
No, but you could try googling for some.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 16:57, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently, it's because lots of trafficked heroin and cocaine comes in illegally off the boats, and since the fishing industry is in decline, unemployment is high, causing drug abuse and crime. That's what I believe, but until I find a source it shouldn't be added.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 12:13, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Earls" and other idiots are credited in this article, but persons that have done something good for the town are omitted. Greetings from Norway (we have no respect for the "earls" of Scotland or Great Britain) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.165.88.91 (talk) 00:31, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fitlyk[edit]

Is the usage of fitlyk confined to Peterhead, or is it a more general north-east thing? - Dudesleeper / Talk 01:17, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fit like? - look up Doric dialect.--MacRusgail (talk) 17:16, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Population[edit]

According to the quoted sources the population was 17,947 at the 2001 Census and 17,560 by the General Register Office 2004 estimate. Please don't change these figures unless you also provide references for more up-to-date estimates. Thanks! --Deskford (talk) 18:35, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The General Register Office 2006 estimate is 17,330. This is the most up-to-date figure I can find. --Deskford (talk) 11:34, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Harbour[edit]

If you go there, the most striking thing visually is the enormous harbour breakwater. I understand this was built by prisoners. Anyone have more information they can add to the article? Kognos (talk) 20:56, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The biggest UK fishing port by far[edit]

But this is not mentioned. Maybe a separate fishing section? It must be incredibly important to the town.
