Article issues[edit]

The original article was lacking verifiable references to establish notability. I've added references to newspaper articles about Phelps-A-Thons around the country, establishing significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. --Sohcahhant talk 17:23, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The original article was not written from a neutral point of view. I've cleaned it up to establish a neutral point of view. --Sohcahhant talk 17:23, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As the subject is a website, this article is subject to notability for websites. That guideline states that, for a reference to be accepted to prove it meets notability, it must be non-trivial coverage. So for example, this wickedlocal.com article has one line about the Phelps-a-thon - and therefore doesn't count. The cambridgema.gov link is just a picture gallery without any content, so it doesn't count. Bay Windows is marginally' usable, I think, as is the Crimson. The Standford Review article doesn't even have any mention of Phelps-a-thon, so it's out. The Talon article could maybe be used to fill in extra info about the organization, but as it's written by a high school class, so it's probably not a good candidate for proving notability. And Weekly Dig could also be used. Long story short, notability may be covered here. And overloading references into the first paragraph of the lead isn't a good way to make your point heard.
But this article is far from neutral right now. It reads like a fansite for Chris Mason, and is largely an echo of Chris Mason (activist)#Phelps-A-Thon. Actually, now that I think about it, perhaps this article should just redirect to the Chris Mason article, as all of the references are basically about him. Is there some reason why phelps-a-thon.com is notably different than its founder? — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 18:08, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
