I wrote this article. What's wrong with the layout? I'll fix it if someone has complaints! Lloyd Arriola 09:30, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, read the tag. It needs to be wikified, for starters. It could also use a bit better flow in its writing I'd say. Secondly, it needs references/sources. An external link or two would be nice as well. ♫ Melodia Chaconne ♫ 11:46, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

performance direction[edit]

I heard a story that Busoni intended the male chorus to sing naked - what is the origin of this? Seems a little unlikely, since the chorus sings offstage! David K Jones 18:59, 6 April 2007(UTC)

Sounds like joke.  :-) The chorus is offstage so it doesn't matter what they wear. They could wear anything (or nothing). DavidRF 03:37, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New section on Aladdin[edit]

I added this section to clarify the origin of the words which Busoni uses in the last movement. MinorProphet (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 06:26, 3 September 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Also added new section on performance problems. > MinorProphet (talk) 18:58, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of notable performers[edit]

Moved here as a new section by MinorProphet (talk) 10:35, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder if you would like to mention that the EMI recording Donohoe made of the work in 1988 was a live performance? I wouldn't know whether or not it was 'notable', but I was there and I would have thought it was worth a mention in something other than the comprehensive list of recordings. Perhaps the 'live' nature of it would make a difference? It certainly was not an 'also-ran.'58.141.128.219 (talk) 18:32, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your interest. When Robert.Allen and I revised this article many moons ago, there were a few existing paragraphs which we didn't make any changes to, the list of 'notable performers' being one of them. Thinking about it, it does seem somewhat invidious to try to identify 'notability' among a tiny select band of exceptionally talented artists, and maybe the best thing is to delete the paragraph entirely from the intro and re-fashion it next to the list of recorded performances (which is just that: a list of recordings, not discriminatory in any way). Of course, you can boldly make any changes yourself, that's the way it works round here (well, sort of). >MinorProphet (talk) 10:35, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

But Beethoven?[edit]

"The 1808 Choral Fantasy, Op. 80 by Beethoven includes a choral finale, but until that point it has the appearance of a work for piano and orchestra."

What is the purpose of the "but" clause in that sentence? To distinguish the Beethoven from the works mentioned previously?

They also have "the appearance of a work for piano and orchestra," until the finale. That isn't a distinguishing characteristic.--23.119.205.88 (talk) 13:50, 22 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
