Page Merger[edit]

I am requesting this merger because nobody I know uses the term "North Carolina Triad" anymore. It's always "Piedmont Triad" or just "Triad". Almost all the television stations, newspapers, businesses, and even the airport use "Piedmont Triad". So, I say stop the confusion and merge! --TinMan 19:31, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Historical Usage[edit]

The term 'Piedmont Triad' is a PR one and, like 'North Carolina Triad' not used in normal conversation. I don't know when the term was invented, but as late as the mid 80's television and radio stations, newspapers, businesses, etc. etc. merely used the term 'Triad'. The airport was Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point Regional Airport and was called 'Regional' in daily conversation. Looking at the article, they've also added a whole bunch of counties - back then it was just Forsyth and Guilford, sometimes Davidson. 24.16.164.253 (talk) 05:56, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Primary Highways[edit]

I updated the information on Business 40 in Greensboro, which no longer exists although some of the signs still do. The original I-40, which was redesignated as "Business 40," following the opening of the Greensboro Western Urban Loop in February, 2008, is once again desginated as I-40, and GUL is now I-73. Wilkes County[edit]

The list of all the counties that compose the Piedmont Triad does vary from source to source, but for Wilkes County, are there enough verifiable sources to merit listing it as "sometimes included as part of the region"?

I am neutral to its inclusion or absence, as I view it as a fringe area, much like Montgomery County. It has ties to the region and commuters, but it is not closely related like a core county (EG: Forsyth or Guilford). I do think a consensus needs to be developed though due to its repeated addition and removal to the list.
