France and Germany against the rest[edit]

There is a referenced claim that de Boissieu came to hold this position only due to the support of France and Germany. Is this possible? Especially, when 13 other states want somebody else to hold this office. What about the remaining 12 states? Tomeasy T C 07:20, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I assume France and Germany traded off other things to get the states supporting the other candidate to agree. But really, I don't consider EUABC.com to be a sufficiently reliable source on this. They make the claim, but they give no sources for this information. I see it in a way as getting around Wikipedia's requirement for referencing - just reference someone else's unreferenced claim; esbically since EUABC.com is an encyclopedic dictionary. I am removing the statement. --124.19.0.118 (talk) 08:35, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
