Untitled[edit]

Pietra Dura is not the same as Pietra Serena! Pietra Serena should not be redirected here! Pietra Serena is an Italian Renaissance practice of using differing colored marble to highlight architectural elements in buildings. It has nothing to do with inlaying precious gems into marble.

Opere di commessi misunderstanding[edit]

"Opere di commessi" has definitely nothing to do with commissariat. "Commessi" refers to the verb "commettere", i.e. to put together (as bricks in masonry; the space between two bricks is called "commessura"). As a side note, in Italian a "pietra dura" also means any valuable stone (but nowhere nearly as precious as a diamond or a ruby), not just in inlay works but in a ring as well. So to us (Italians) an opal is a "pietra dura". Mb 3r7864 (talk) 18:31, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Changed, hardstone and I think semi-precious stone are linked. Johnbod (talk) 21:31, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
