So far I have come across three dates for the construction of the bridge: 1910, 1911, and 1903. I have also come across three estimates for how many covered bridges exist in NC: two, three, and seven. Just thought I'd mention that for anyone that may expand the article. According to Dale J. Travis there are 11 covered bridges in North Carolina, not two as stated on the Pisgah bridge site. http://www.dalejtravis.com/bridge/bridgenc.htm

I would argue that the Old Salem site footbridge qualifies of historical significance since it was designed and built in the '90's. And a couple of others listed on the Travis site aren't much more that a few sticks of wood. But it would appear that there may be at least eight or nine worthy of mention.
