number of gaps or holes?[edit]

The section on the West Coast method mentions nine numbered gaps or holes, but it seems to me there are only eight. By rule, only seven men can be on the line of scrimmage. Thus, there are six gaps between any two adjacent players plus two additional "gaps" outside of the ends. Or am I missing something here? Wschart (talk) 20:50, 12 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I am interested in this topic, is there any advice you could give me to improving this page?--Mszyk9 (talk) 15:36, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Wschart: I edited this article extensively but retained the "nine gaps" without thinking about it. Perhaps an explanation is in the PDF file that is Reference no. 3. Spike-from-NH (talk)
