Onegai Teacher vs. Onegai Sensei[edit]

Do NOT call this series "Onegai Sensei". If it were called "Onegai Sensei" it would be titled "おねがい☆先生". But it isn't, it is titled "おねがい☆ティーチャー", note the katakana reads "tei-cha". The katakana is derived from the English word 'teacher', thus it is known as "Onegai Teacher". Those who do call it "Onegai Sensei" have literally took the English word 'teacher', and then translated back into Japanese, and romanized it once again into 'sensei', which if you think about it, is just their way to show off that they know a little Japanese. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.245.94.177 (talk • contribs) User:Ned Scott 02:00, 7 April 2006

That's interesting, I never knew that, I just figured it had been translated. In this case... changing it to 'Please Teacher' can be a bit misleading because it doesn't distinguish that the latter word was Teacher to begin with, a reader would simply assume both words were translated from Japanese. Characters and possible spoilers[edit]

I don't know about you people, but the characters section on this page kind of gives away spoilers. I mean come on, giving away Kei and Ichigo having the same condition, and describing Ichigo's age and coma really gave away the 9th episode (surprisingly, as is this also, as I'm explicitly pointing it all out). Keep the page at Please Teacher![edit]

We are to name anime articles based on their licensed English titles and the series is marketed as "Please Teacher!" While there is also a novel series with the title of "Onegai Teacher", it is not as high profile as the anime.--SeizureDog 20:25, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"We are to name anime articles based on their licensed English titles" This statement is false. See Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (Japan-related articles). This was added to the style guide without consensus and everyone pretty much agrees to remove it, just not exactly how. Wikipedia procedure is to use the most well-known title, *not* necessarily the official title.

Sequel[edit]

Please Twins! has been referred to official sources such as Bandai Entertainment as a sequel, see Bandai Entertainment - What's New, and notable sources such as Anime News Network, see Please Twins! While Anime Encyclopedia lists it as a sequal, I do not agree for it is not a "true squal". All the characteristics of this series is a spinoff. However since I do not have the time and energy to waste on something so trivial, we'll leave it as be.

Music: Snow Angel[edit]

I think not, you see only the musics used as opening and ending themes should be included I think. Please Teacher has at least 4 musics but I think only 3 of them are used in the anime. Year[edit]

I've added something about the year, unless this has time travel we know it takes place after 2009. Furthermore, considering Kei's lack of shock about her being born then, it would make sense that it's a couple decades or so in the future (since it lists her as 23) and so we get some sense of what the minimal year would need to be. An anime being set in the future is sort of a big deal, they mention things like that in Manabi Straight for example. This is actually probably at least 2 decades after 2009 considering her parents met then, since there's no evidence of time travel. It is one of those anime that stand out where they're set in the future yet not much has actually changed, as opposed to futuristic anime which show great changes in technology. Then you've effectively proved my point, which is that knowing that it occurs in the future is not apparent, nor is it important, to understand anything about the series. Whereas in Manabi Straight!, the fact that it's set in the future is not only obvious, but important to understanding the circumstances the characters and the Japanese society are facing in the series. I was embelleshing a bit when I said nothing changed. Obviously there are subtle changes, such as how it referenced a 2009 event. The technology is there, just in the background. For one, it is probably one of the reasons that Mizuho`s father was abducted and why the aliens began taking an interest in earth, whereas they would wait longer to intervene if our technology was not as developed. It`s really just as relevant as mentioning that it takes place on a given lake, because a different lake would not have made any difference. Tyciol (talk) 05:39, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
