Does there really need to be a cat for this? Category:Unrecognized tribes in the United States is even that all that populated. Please, please don't break these down by state. Then each state would have maybe one article. Yuchitown (talk) 10:16, 6 August 2023 (UTC)Yuchitown[reply]
@User:Yuchitown I was thinking there were multiple articles for Maryland, but upon closer inspection I think there's just this one (a few other groups are now state-recognized). So just use hyperlinks on relevant articles? And leave out mentioning them on Native templates? I was also wondering if maybe Category:Unrecognized tribes in the United States should be a sub-cat of Category:Native American heritage groups, rather than vice versa? How many of these groups don't call themselves tribes? Most seem to do so. Should the two categories stand alone rather than one being a sub-cat of the other? I think it could be more clearly articulated what the difference is between a "heritage group" and an "unrecognized tribe". Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 19:46, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
They are slightly different things. I don't know if they neatly subcat; they overlap but not completely. Yuchitown (talk) 20:39, 6 August 2023 (UTC)Yuchitown[reply]
