Untitled[edit]

I recently looked at the edits made by 209.49.43.89 and thought the information was relevant to the article. I don't know why DiegoTehMexican called it vandalism. I re-added it and also put in a sentence about The Waterfront and Costco. -- (EM1227819) 23:10, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, kudos to Joewelcome for the great trivia! Very nice information- I had no idea all those bands played at the Capitol! How did you find all this stuff?-- (EM1227819) 23:13, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Locking[edit]

Why was Port Chester page semi-locked???? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.206.79.227 (talk) 21:19, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I locked it because bunch of kids insisted on inserting a non-notable resident. We have some standards here, and failure to adhere to them will result in either protection or sanctions. The guy's name is Edward Eways; feel free to establish his notability if you wish, by creating an article for him, but these people just got boring. --Rodhullandemu 21:25, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have heard of Edward Eways, seen some of his events on T.V very well known in Westchester..You should be on your notable list??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.190.250.223 (talk) 17:18, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Then feel free to provide reliable sources establishing his notability; the relevant policy is here. --Rodhullandemu 17:35, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am a little confused about your notable list...Ed Eways is one of the most known people in our community. Almost like a local celeb!! I have reveiwed your list.. You have people on there that don't even live in the area??? It is apparent that your list is based on anyone who has articles on them and nothing more. I have read many articles about Ed Eways..He is active in the community and truly is a strong talent that uses his gifts to help people and bring attention to great causes. Your list is flawed and your policy is no more then just a lot of fluff..You have silly standards... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.250.5.173 (talk) 21:02, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Then find somewhere to edit which has non-"silly", but obviously lower, standards. There are plenty of blogs out there where any old rubbish is welcome. --Rodhullandemu 21:05, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Put ED EWAYS ON NOTABLE LIST...HE BELONGS THERE —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.103.93.62 (talk) 13:19, 20 October 2008 (UTC) How long are you going to keep this page semi-locked???? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.103.93.62 (talk) 14:17, 22 October 2008 (UTC) WE WILL OUT LAST YOU... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.103.93.62 (talk) 16:09, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lifesavers Building citation[edit]

I am too new to edit this semi-protected article. However, the following Web site offers credible information and photos about the Lifesavers Building. http://www.westchesterarchives.com/ht/muni/portCh/lifesavers.html

If I were allowed to edit I would say that it's now been converted to condominiums. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sandymg61 (talkcontribs) 17:33, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of links to legitimate media sources[edit]

A user has been removing links to local media sources, including Port Chester Patch, The Journal News and the Westmore News.

All three are legitimate local news sources – Port Chester Patch and Westmore News are staffed by editors and reporters and exclusively report on the Village of Port Chester. They print in excess of 30 and 15 local stories each week, respectively. The Journal News is the regional print daily newspaper.

They are NOT content mills and the links are NOT spam. Repeatedly removing them is tantamount to vandalism. Wikipedia's rules are very clear on attribution to legitimate news sources, and the user who has been removing the links is depriving readers of information about Port Chester.

Please do not remove the links to these local media sources.

Attribution is not the same as adding external links. To rate an external link the target newspaper should be sufficiently notable to support a wikipedia article about it. Of course that means someone else has to publish a reliable source about those papers. It can be frustrating, but the rules do make sense. Are there books, journalism reviews, awards, or other secondary sources that establish these papers as notable? If so, by all means start articles about them. Short of that, they can still be cited as references to support statements in this article. They just can't be added as External Links. The Journal News does have a Wikipedia page:

68.198.254.73: Blocked for one week[edit]

Thanks to WP:ANI and a fast-working admin, this IP (the one that's been putting lots of uncited, POV material in the section on the high school) has been blocked for the next week. If he/she switches IPs, the next step is WP:RFP (semi-protecting the page to prevent IP edits). Allens (talk | contribs) 17:45, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fire stations and equipment[edit]

I've removed this as I think it's way too detailed for an article about a town. --NeilN talk to me 22:37, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
