Removal of notable, cited material[edit]

Please refrain from removing sourced, notable material on the subject matter (this has especially been an issue in the history section). Removing such material can be considered vandalism, and is thus against Wikipedia's policies. Additionally, the places of worship have again been removed, as none are notable. Port Washington is listed as a village in the Town of North Hempstead. Is there any evidence of this status?

Yes, right [1] there

It says PWN is a village. PW is not. Like neighboring Manhasset and many other North Shore communities, PW is unincorporated, which to be very picky means it has no legal existence; just the specialized districts exist. Doesn't need legal existence, either. Incidentally, should it be noted that Pan American's Clipper flying boats used PW as a base in the late 1930s? Jim.henderson 04:36, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fire department[edit]

Since the fire department has more space than everything else put together, shouldn't its section become a separate article? Jim.henderson 02:12, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gatsby Reference[edit]

I have always thought of West Egg and East Egg being Kings Point and Sands Point. Great Neck is hardly the "egg" part of West Egg and doesn't really have the watery bits that the Eggs need. Anyone object to my correcting this? Indeed, the Wikipedia entry for Sands Point states this clearly. Czrisher 18:35, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed - from what I understand it's Kings Point and Sands Point --Jwrightdesign (talk) 15:45, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Contents[edit]

Please keep in mind that this article is on the hamlet of Port Washington. There is a significant amount of content (as of 8/10/2021) pertaining to other communities within the Greater Port Washington area (i.e.: Sands Point). Such information might fit better in the articles on the villages which they are located in. On that note, it is very good that there is a section discussing the Greater port Washington area and the communities which are part of it. AITFFan1 (talk) 20:12, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
