Is there a verifiable source that indicates Portage Creek is a tributary of Portage River? By my reckoning of Topozone maps [1], the Portage Creek flows rises in the Gourdneck State Game area and flows northward into the Kalamazoo. OK, I see here [2] that there is another Portage Creek
that flows mostly south through Vicksburg to the Portage River. Interesting. I also came across this report from the DNR. My printed county atlas is more ambiguous. It shows a Portage Creek coming out of the north and the south ends of Austin Lake, with one flowing north and the other flowing south. Somehow, I doubt that is accurate. older ≠ wiser 21:24, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
