The 2020 incident[edit]

I just got a bunch of material: this article obviously should not have as much material on these sad people as it did. What it should have, and there is coverage of this, is what the nature of these "private" streets is, how it relates to a history of segregation and redlining, and how these kinds of "private" neighborhoods are an example of a dangerous kind of racist territorialism. As the person who boldly added that content, I respect your removal of it, but I do disagree.
I believe (and reliable sources seem to agree), that the past history of pointing firearms at neighbors is very helpful to understanding the incident. I know I felt I had a lot more clarity once I learned there was a long history of property disputes, sometimes involving firearms. Similarly, the search warrant and firearm seizure has merited extensive discussion, with the governor speaking in the couple's defense.
While this incident may not the best use of national attention, national attention has been focused upon it. The individuals have essentially opted to become public figures, at least up to a point. It seems our duty to help our readers make sense of it as best we can, and the past history of property disputes and the firearm seizures are an important part of that. Charges have been filed, making the search, seizure, and past disputes more relevant. Feoffer (talk) 05:24, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
