Requested move 3 October 2018[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Moved to Portugués Rural, the alternative title suggested in the lead per WP:NATURAL, and Portugués retargeted to dab page Portugues. Note that that title nicely contrasts with Portugués Urbano, another barrio in the same zone. Plus, the river and Venezuelan football club Deportivo Portugués are probably as notable topics if not more.

Note that I'm closing this as a supervotey, bold move, in order to cut the guardian knot. I think there's apparent consensus that the barrio is not the primary topic, but I'm picking up the title that I find most appropriate. If you disagree, please contact me on the talk page. PortuguésPortugués, Puerto Rico – Not primary topic. 192.107.120.90 (talk) 14:54, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Why? Can't a hatnote be added to the river (which is also in Puerto Rico anyway) and Portuguese. Crouch, Swale (talk) 15:02, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Portugués River is equally likely In ictu oculi (talk) 17:14, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Don't support. I added the suggested hatnote which is the norm in cases like this. Mercy11 (talk) 09:01, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • BTW, there's no real place in Puerto Rico by the proposed title "Portugues, Puerto Rico" (no diacritical mark). So the suggested title to me seems counterproductive and perhaps even misleading to readers who may think that such is the name of the place the are searching for. I also noticed that there's already a redirect from Portugués, Puerto Rico (diacritical mark) to "Portugués" anyway (which I had created some time back, but had forgotten about). So it seems that all possible search possibilities had already been covered except for the hatnote, which is there now too. Mercy11 (talk) 09:27, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • If disambiguation is needed from the river (which I'm fine with per In ictu oculi) then it should be Portugués (Barrio) as both are in Puerto Rico. Crouch, Swale (talk)
    • I don't think disambiguation from the river is a problem because the river is already named "Portugués River" (note the "River" in the name), so the "River" portion makes it totally clear the article is about the river. The barrio contains the river, and the barrio is the most prominent entity, so the naming seems fine to me as is now that the hatnote is there. Mercy11 (talk) 09:27, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: The request begs the question, what, then, is the primary topic for "Portugués", if not the barrio? Perhaps the requester seeks to make room to move some other article there, but if so perhaps that should be made clear in the nomination request. Mercy11 (talk) 04:52, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
