Add more about the human aspect. How has life changed in the former soviet republics? What good things from the Soviet days are gone? What bad things have been eliminated? Obviously, poverty is up, but in some republics there is more democracy. But what about day-to-day life? Are there still queues? It'd be good to look at some primary sources.
