The official site shows that the name is not hyphenated: [1]. So shouldn't the hyphen be removed here? Martinevans123 (talk) 19:09, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I'm not sure either. These three are all hyphenated (at the moment): Pouilly-Fuissé, Pouilly-Loché and Pouilly-Vinzelles. But had assumed that that was because they were all place-names, whereas Fumé was not. But if French wiki has it then.... Martinevans123 (talk) 08:52, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That is a good point regarding place names and you usually do see those villages always hyphenated. Still, I don't think there is any harm in posting an RM with a low risk of this becoming "contentious". I'm sure you're not the first reader to raise an eyebrow at seeing Pouilly-Fumé hyphenated and it probably would be helpful to have a consensus driven discussion on the topic with outside views introduced. I see that Merriam-Webster gives a hyphen, as does dictionary.com. I'd be willing to do an extensive label survey, of course, if WMF was willing to fund the purchase of the required bottles. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:56, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
