How come the Article for Powershift redirects here? That should be removed, as there is a book by Alvin Toffler: Power Shift, and the link for Power Shift redirects here....fairly useless in my opinion. Hengineer 19:29, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  Not necessarily. A racing engine is engineered to survive at high/maximum RPM for the duration of the race/series. Even a production car engine will not break immediately when revved to maximum RPM, but will experience increased wear-and-tear. If an engine will break immediately at a certain RPM, the rev limiter will be set at a point below that.  However, a distinction must be made between power shifting (holding the throttle open while shifting the transmission with the clutch) and clutchless shifting (letting off the throttle and shifting the transmission without the clutch). Both techniques can increase performance depending on which (if either) technique the vehicle is engineered to withstand. 205.110.147.18 (talk) 14:47, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
