Latex vs. Acrylic[edit]

This page says: "In 1950s, it began production of latex acrylic paints." However, the cited source says only that in 1950 Pratt & Lambert "Began developing latex products and became known as the paint industry’s color leader". (There is no mention of acrylic.)

True latex paints predate acrylic paints. While acrylic paints contain no latex, they are often marketed as "acrylic latex" because consumers were familiar with the term "latex" and had come to equate it with "water-based" paint. But unless there is a source that says that Pratt & Lambert's 1950 product was, in fact, an "acrylic" product, this page should not make that claim.

I have edited the original sentence to remove "acrylic" and to change "1950s" to "1950" since that is the specif year stated in the cited source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ScribeMonk (talkcontribs) 04:57, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
