It's really not. Considering the majority of medical schools outside the United States still adhere to a medical degree being started after high school and not the United States 4+4 scheme, the U.S. pre-medical track during an undergraduate degree is somewhat unique to the United States. When it becomes the norm for the majority of medical schools to use the system, the information can be moved from the "Other countries" section to being integrated within the article.

Article Citations[edit]

This article needs attention and citations. Especially the subsection 'Coursework'. It states that "The Association of American Medical Colleges has created standard required courses that every pre-med student must take." Please provide a citation for this or it can justifiably be deleted and removed. Furthermore, it goes on to say "The typical courses that must be taken to meet the pre-medical requirement are" and then lists a cirriculum, please provide a citation for this. Someone has already added a citation needed label to that statement. PLEASE PROVIDE CITATIONS AND SOURCES. This article is seriously lacking and considering this is a medical article and an education article, that is very disturbing. This article needs immediate attention and revision. Term use in Canada[edit]

I’ve honestly never heard “pre-med” (officially) used in Canada. Usually students are working towards a degree in Life Sciences, or some such, and using that as a springboard into a med school. — Spike Toronto 06:08, 31 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
