Yautja

Seeing as the canon of Yautja is disputed, and the term does not appear in this movie, I suggest not using it to refer to the Predator(s) in this article. -- Jon Dowland 00:27, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Conviently

I just removed this edit.

"Conveniently for the actor, Schwarzenegger became busy with Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which allowed the character to be remade into Special Agent Keyes, played by Gary Busey."

What's so convenient about it? That Schwarzenegger now had a good reason to turn the role down? Garion96 (talk) 11:49, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Pretty much. Sounds absurd, but it's actually logical. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.85.234.166 (talkcontribs) .
Do you have a source for that? Otherwise it's just seems to be speculation. Garion96 (talk) 01:17, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Watch the documentary portion of the Predator 2 Special Edition DVD. The creators stated that Arnie was busy with Terminator 2 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.85.234.166 (talk) 00:53, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

The Pistol

Perhaps the wording of the discussion of the pistol should be changed... while technically the explanation of the pistol's history in the comic book is a retcon, the term is more commonly known to imply a change to established backstory. Perhaps it could/should be changed to be a little less out-of-the-blue, or maybe properly explained a little more.--MythicFox 13:52, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

The bit about Roanoke seems like pure speculation. Gonna need a source on that, or something. Mikepwnz 22:53, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Always capatilize Predator?

Should 'Predator' always be capitalized or should the word be treated like the words human, bear, fish, etc? wubb 18:52, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

I think we should. We could take in concederation that they don't have birth-names (that we/i know of) and give them the name "Predator" as a birth name. Leonida November 12th 2006
Yes. Predator is universally capitalized as the name of the species of alien and when refering to the individual creature. Mikepwnz 09:29, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Why can't i edit it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.247.92.105 (talk) 18:49, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Beowulf Reference

The wiki for the first film has a section for the Beowulf parallel but this wiki doesn't, despite the parallel actually being much stronger in Predator 2 (takes place in ciy, monster's arm removed, hunts injured monster to subterranean lair, combats monster with own weapon). Can someone else handle this, or should I dig out the paper I wrote on the subject? Mikepwnz 09:35, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

The Xenomorph Skull

This article lists two conflicting explanations for the prexence of the xenomorph skull in the Predator ship

From New Facts ABout Predators: "Many people including the writers of Predator 2 believed that Stan Winston indeed put the Alien head in the Predators' skull collection to intentionally connect the two franchises, both owned by 20th Century Fox. However, the first appearance of the mixed franchises, the first comic of Alien vs. Predator, was released by Dark Horse Comics in November 1989, a year before Predator 2 was released."

From Trivia: "When the view is shot inside of the trophy room, you see a skull from the movie ALIEN. This was not supposed to be serious, it was only a joke. However, after reviewing the movie they producers thought of this as a great oppertunity to create a whole new franchise: Alien vs. Predator."

Obviously if the Alien vs. Predator franchise was already started '89 per the first quote then after the "joke" of the second quote Alien vs. Predator would not have been a new franchise. I don't know much about this situation so i will leave the article as is, just thought i'd point out the inconsisteny for someone more familiar with this topic to rectify it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.215.211.192 (talkcontribs). 03:12, 9 January 2007

Thanks for noticing. That trivia part was only added a couple of days ago, and has just been removed. To be sure, I will look and see if I can find a source for one or the other. Garion96 (talk) 04:13, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
I always the thought the skull was out of place; Aliens are insects, no? Why do the have a skull, which would require an endoskeleton? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.159.183.45 (talk) 17:17, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, Aliens are *compared* to insects, they are never directly determined to be insects. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.189.155.131 (talk) 13:39, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Trophycase.jpg

Image:Trophycase.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

WikiProject Alien

I have proposed the creation of a WikiProject to improve articles related to the Alien series, including this one. If you are interested in participating please go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals#Alien and add your name to the list of interested editors. If enough people are interested in starting this project, then I will move forward with it. --IllaZilla (talk) 23:18, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Acting in both films ... Predator & Predator 2.

I've realised that, besides Kevin Peter Hall (who plays a Predator in both films), the only actor to star in Predator and Predator 2 is Henry Kingi. The odd thing is, while the second film aims to follow on from the first (and therefore possess continuity), Kingi plays as different characters in each movie. In the first, he's an unnamed guerrilla soldier at the jungle camp (who is blown up). In the second, he's El Scorpio (an urban guerrilla involved in the illegal drug trade, who is shot on the top of a high-rise building and falls to his death).

Clearly, there is a continuity error of some sort. Nonetheless, the fact that Kingi has a casting role in both films is a piece of trivia that might be mentioned in the article. Simon P Blackburn (talk) 03:14, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

I don't find it a continuity error, as both are bit parts and it's not uncommn in Hollywood for minor (or even major) actors to play different roles in sequels (see Bruce Campbell in the 3 Spider-Man films, Lance Henriksen in Aliens/Alien 3/Alien vs. Predator, Roddy McDowall in the Planet of the Apes series, Jason Lee & Ben Affleck in the various Kevin Smith films, Danielle Harris in Halloweens 4&5 & then the '07 remake, etc.), but it probably is worth mentioning in the article that he had a bit part as a stock character in the first film. --IllaZilla (talk) 03:53, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
