President of the Swiss Confederation vs. President of the Confederation[edit]

Seven months ago you reverted my edit here with this edit changing the infobox label of the President of the Swiss Confederation to read as President of the Confederation, which you called "the official naming". As the article now stands, the version that I wanted it changed to — using the word Swiss — is the one being used. You have not reverted this back to the status quo ante as you did seven months ago with my edit. May I ask why? Please advise. Thank you! Spintendo 06:08, 18 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Spintendo: sorry for my delayed response. Yes, your observations are correct. Here my trial: Actually both versions are possible, either, President of the Confederation, or President of the Swiss Confederation. But ~~President of Switzerland~~ would be incorrect. Using local languages in order to address inhabitants, you usually use the shorter version, since it is inherently anyhow clear which nation is referred to. So, I would propose to change the starting sentence with "The President of the (Swiss) Confederation", but using the shorter version in the info box. -- ZH8000 (talk) 07:21, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I think that the title should reflect that with a direct link to Switzerland. However, despite "President of Switzerland" being a tad inaccurate to the actual composition of the office, it is nevertheless known as that.
