Titles[edit]

I'm pretty sure that Beatrice would have been a Princess of Orléans, not a princess of "Orleans and Bourbon". Was she ever an Infanta of Spain? Charles 09:01, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Beatrice's husband was an Infante of Spain, and therefore (according to the rules at the time) she was an Infanta of Spain. However, her husband is always known as the Infante Alfonso de Orleans y Borbon (where de Orleans y Borbon is his surname); this is perhaps a little analagous to the English usage "Princess Beatrice of York" (i.e. a common form, if not the official title). To suggest that she was ever called "Duchess of Galliera" (as at present in the article) is just silly. Her husband may have had the ducal title, but he wasn't known by it.
