Toma de Caracas

Hi! This day a mobilization called "Toma de Caracas" (Taking of Caracas) took place in the capital. Chúo Torrealba read a manifest (http://sumarium.com/este-es-el-manifiesto-de-la-mud-y-las-proximas-acciones/) declaring that there would be marches on September 7th, 14th and 15th to pressure the government to give a date for the referendum to recall Maduro (http://www.pri.org/stories/2016-09-01/venezuelans-are-staging-taking-caracas-mass-rally-if-government-lets-them). The following days there should be plenty of information to add in the articles. I already included the announcement of this rally in the Timeline of the 2016 Venezuelan protests article.--Jamez42 (talk) 20:48, 1 September 2016 (UTC)

@Jamez42: I'll take a look at it. I'll need to find some images as well. Thanks!--ZiaLater (talk) 00:00, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
@ZiaLater: No worries! Today I took some pics of the march, maybe later it can be decided which is the most appropriate.--Jamez42 (talk) 00:18, 2 September 2016 (UTC)

Slimming down some sections

I may attempt to slim down some sections so this represents the protest movement as a whole. Things like "poll data" can be greatly summarized while the international reactions section can possibly be moved to a separate article.--ZiaLater (talk) 04:18, 5 April 2017 (UTC)

Rename - Venezuelan protests (2014-present)

I think that the fixed timeline "2014-2017" implies that the protests ended sometime in 2017, when in fact they are continuing. Additionally, renaming the article to "2014-present" means that we'll only ever need to rename it once more (when the protests end), whereas keeping the name with a end date means that we will need to rename this article every year, as long as the protests continue. Any thoughts? Red Rock Canyon (talk) 09:04, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

I support this change

Current events?

Is there still protests going on? --Aréat (talk) 16:51, 2 January 2018 (UTC)

Short answer is no, there are no big protest going on, but the crisis is still in full (hyperinflationary) mode. --Oscar_. (talk) 23:24, 2 January 2018 (UTC)

2014-2018

I must, again, express my disagreement to name the article as "2014-2017" or "2014-2018" protests since the title is misleading, as I have stated in the Spanish Wikipedia and I think I have here. Previously I explained that in 2014 and in 2017 there were two different waves of protests, for different reasons, with different leaders, different conditions and methods and which ended for different reasons. Naming the article with the current title suggests that either the first wave of protests hasn't finished, which is incorrect, or that all the protests that have happened during Maduro's presidency started in 2014, which is a little more understandable but also incorrect.

My proposal is either to, for solving the first misinterpretation, to merge the article with the 2014 or the 2017 protests articles, creating a disambiguation or something, or for solving the second misinterpretation, to rename the article as "Protests during the presidency of Nicolás Maduro" and clarify that there have been political protests, which were in 2014 and 2017, and social protests, which have happened because of the shortages and have been characterized for being sporadic, decentralized and by including lootings. --Jamez42 (talk) 17:58, 7 January 2018 (UTC)

Support of this. I actually lost count of how many articles of the protests are around here but there needs to be some coherence regarding this issue. Ping to @NuclearWizard: that was responsible for the last article name. Cheers, --Oscar_. (talk) 23:23, 7 January 2018 (UTC)

Support: yes ,this must be changed Gregorius deretius (talk) 00:50, 11 January 2018 (UTC)
