A short story about *Mbwatu[edit]

I was wondering what a reconstructed story of *ᵐbʷatu would look like, so as to illustrate how the PTB language looked like and to illustrate to native speakers of descendant languages (such as Mwotlap) how different the native-language translation is to PTB and other descendants and to encourage ni-Vanuatu how their languages represent their own culture. PS. And how would the national anthem "Yumi, Yumi, Yumi" be like in Proto-Torres-Banks or even Proto-North-Central Vanuatu? Kwékwlos (talk) 10:30, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Womtelo Are you interested in such? Though I apologize this has been more than a year. Kwékwlos (talk) 12:55, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Proto-Torres[edit]

Can a Proto-Torres language (ancestor of Hiw and Lo-Toga) be reconstructed? Namely, is it possible to genetically prove that Hiw and Lo-Toga form their own subgroup? Would it have vowel hybridization and final vowel loss like in the modern languages? I think @Womtelo has reconstructed one, though it looks more like Proto-Torres-Banks to me.
