Pensions[edit]

The establishment of a ‘Provisional government’, therefore, was symbolic rather than practical. In contrast with the Dáil government of 1919–1922, which had a cabinet, a police force, a courts system etc., the Provisional Government of April 1916 does not appear ever to have operated as such.

There was an incident early on in the "rising" when a group of widows of British army servicemen showed up at the GPO to collect their military widows pensions and created something of a minor disturbance when they were told that as Ireland was now governed by the Provisional Government no such pension would be paid. Could this have been one of the few acts/decisions of "the Provisional Government" ? 86.112.254.192 (talk) 18:32, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Could we have some? Anyone can declare a Provisional government any time anywhere, and end it, but that wouldn't deserve a page on wikipedia.78.18.243.95 (talk) 12:18, 17 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
