comment[edit]

I have updated this page to include recent events and changes in this service (Look at the "About Us" section of the Puretracks page) though the article could still use with some expantion, and clean up Thesidewinder

The deceptive advertising section is extremely biased and needs work, but I'm not sure how to proceed. mtffm 18:39, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's a little beyond "needing work". So far beyond it that I'm wiping it for now, unless someone provides a source beyond one pissed-off blogger that actually indicates Puretracks is using false advertising. 68.228.75.74 06:04, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mac controversy[edit]

The mac controversy is strange. The people at CBC say they can download using Firefox, but using Epiphany (Gnome's mozilla-based), downloads won't work on my fedora box. Furthermore, Safari 3 (mac) logs into Puretracks without trouble, but faces the same problems. Opera, however, will get the mac message even if it mascarades as Internet Explorer. I also noticed that Konqueror gets the message too, unless mascaraded, even if there is no indication that the client is using a mac or ppc box. On the whole, I think that their story is right: the problem is that they are using ActiveX. Their message, however, is terrible, because it seems to consider there are only mac and windows desktops in the world. It should have said something like "Sorry, only windows boxes can use this".
