The following discussion has been moved from 'Sea tulip':

If I recall correctly, there are a number of different species of sea tulips, although all share the same obvious features ('stem' and 'flower'). As such, having this page describe only a single type of sea tulip may be incorrect. Feel free to move the current content to a separate page if/when more sea tulip species are added.

Ok. I've been thinking about what you wrote. Sorry to take 5 years to reply. Yes. I think this article should be about the genus. If there are no objections, I will fix it. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:56, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Subsequent to the fixing: a brief scroll through Google images (plus experience with South African Pyura) convinced me that though some of the members of this genus may well have the 'stem'/'flower' look, this is certainly not an obvious characteristic of the genus as a whole. Consequently, I have written a stub article for the genus, listing all the species according to http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=103524, and created a redirect from 'sea tulip' to Pyura spinifera which I believe to be the common name for the species.
