Concern about content[edit]

This page badly needs a NPOV in the writing, maybe some information about historical campaigns, current finances, participation in Student Unionism in general - love this article to stay but it was pretty woeful and still after changes - it's relevance to Wiki is looking weak. Harvardhall (talk) 12:53, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This page has been deleted by previous editions to take out the context and history of tickets and presidents, and their student political affiliations. Now it reflects the current administration's own biases and marketing impulses. I would suggest this needs a makeover desperately if it is to retain relevance and explanatory power. Delete?[edit]

Whole article reads like QUT Student Guild marketing material. QUT Guild lacks any form of notability, and any edits offering criticism to balance its NPOV nature are often reverted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.208.146.56 (talk) 07:35, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

please stop reverting my changes (request for deletion, and Guild criticism). At least discuss changes. WP's policy on notability for organisations states: "A company, corporation, organization, team, religion, group, product, or service is notable if it has been the subject of coverage in secondary sources." WP:CORP As it stands, the current article reads like promotional material for the guild and is pretty much all not in compliance with WP:NPOV. I'm curious in your thoughts, and whether you have a conflict of interest in seeing this article stand? 121.208.146.56 (talk) 07:02, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism[edit]

Some mention should be made that the guild has refused to put their budget online, even though they promised to do so in the previous election. For shame.

I just added a section for Guild criticism - hopefully the damn trots don't remove it. Cheers. 131.181.251.66 —Preceding signed but undated comment was added at 07:41, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nice to see some Guild fanatic remove my criticism. At least respond to it, don't just delete it.121.208.146.56 —Preceding comment was added at 07:46, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also they are becoming irrelevant. See http://guildonline.net/page.asp?name=StudentServices_VCReps

women's and queer[edit]

By far and away too much content both in the general sections and the queer subsections, by the guild's own figures the queer and women's collectives represent a statistically insignificant minority.

the queer department is A) notable (referred to in secondary sources) B) an active part of the guild which no doubt guild members would be interested to know about and C) this section is referenced - in contrast to the rest of the entry, i might add. edits to enhance quality and relevance of the section are appreciated but wholesale deletion is essentially vandalism.

References[edit]

Hey...look. This article has some references now! Let's see if someone wants to take the initiative to reference and wikify the rest of the article. Handschuh-talk to me 15:38, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

More Concern about Content[edit]

I think there are still unsourced accusations against the QUT Student Guild being aired here. Jamessmithpage (talk) 02:46, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Remove each unsourced accusation, one at a time, using an edit summary. The page is yours to edit. Abductive (reasoning) 06:43, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal[edit]

This organization, like almost every other university student organization (be they called a Student Guild, a Student Union, or whatever), is not independently notable. The few minor news stories cited are of a local nature only, and relate to WP:NOTNEWS. The organization deserves some brief mention at the QUT article, but not an entire article on its own. Given that 10 days have passed with no opinions to the contrary, this merge has been affected. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:30, 3 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
