Ideological criticism[edit]

The article is infected with a considerable amount of ideological criticism of Ms. Hyder, for taking what the contributor all too clearly thinks is the incorrect view of the Muslim destiny in India. While I agree that it would have been better all around for India to have remained unified rather than partitioned, having this view permeate the article in such obvious fashion certainly violates the strictures of NPOV. I believe that it quite likely renders the article offensive to those not agreeing with the anti-partition ideology. Larry Koenigsberg (talk) 16:24, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Citizenship[edit]

While she moved to Pakistan post-patition, what happened during her stay there is speculuative as she did not choose to speak or write about it, this includes her citizenship. I cannot find sources that explicitly state that she took up Pakistani citizenship. Britannica says this: "In 1947, after the division of the subcontinent, Hyder and her mother (her father had died by that time) moved to Pakistan. There she worked on documentary films for a time. She then went to England, where she worked for the BBC. In 1961 she returned to India and remained there, apart from travels and guest lectureships, until her death." While Akhtar Balouch writes in Dawn: "After Partition, Qurratulain had migrated to Pakistan and lived here for a few years before deciding to return to India; eventually, she took up Indian citizenship." ... "Ultimately, Qurratulain went to India and reclaimed her Indian citizenship."

Her stay is Pakistan is treated as a temporary expatriation rather than a change of nationality in most sources, including her own writings. I will be removing this param unless sources which clearly state this are brought to light. Gotitbro (talk) 13:10, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
