Adding photographs[edit]

I have my own digital photos of RAF Coltishall and would like to upload them, but I don't know how! Can anyone help a Wiki-noob, pointing me to any tutorials? * Teutonic Tamer * 19:05, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Closure reasons?[edit]

What are the reasons why Coltishall was not chosen as a future Typhoon airfield — Preceding unsigned comment added by Clrichey (talkcontribs) 02:39, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Many reasons, but the most obvious is a lack of hardened aircraft shelters, and its very poor road links were also a major reason. Militum professio scriniarii (talk) 12:34, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Gate Guardians[edit]

Coltishall had a Spitfire as 'gate guardian' when I lived nearby in the late 70s and early 80s. This is not reported for some reason.I believe there was also a Lightning at some point. 190.213.200.196 (talk) 23:10, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be happy to add that if you have a WP:Reliable source which can back that up. Bellowhead678 (talk) 19:19, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The Spitfire gate guardian was a real aircraft. It was removed for either preservation, or for cannibalisation. A genuine Spitfire is massively more valuable - hence why it was removed and replaced by a fibreglass replica Hurricane. As for the Lightning gate guardian, I have seen many photographs of it, but sadly the images are still copyright so can not be used.
