I can confirm that they were tortured. I was there as a boy when grupo raiz came to my family's house and stayed over a weekend for some concerts in scotland while I was a refugee there from 74-81. They were shaken and upset by what had happened in chile, some with more recent experiences. It might have been 79 or 80. I was 7 or 8 then so too small then to know but after I was told that my presence cheered them up as they told their stories of the times of the coup in my house that first evening.
